HGTV provides a detailed tutorial for making a lamp out of a stack of old books. It definitely would add a lot of charm to a room!
In honor of Valentine’s Day, we found this creative wreath made from old plastic shopping bags. Of course, ideally you would be using a reusable shopping bag at this point! But, if you can get ahold of some shopping bags this would be a perfect craft to make. I could see any color bag working, but I like the red and white color palette they’ve used here. Probably Target or the standard “Thank You” style bags?

Here is an easy tutorial on how to make your very own wallet out of a cassette tape and maybe some fabric from an old shirt you never wear.
Designer Jessica Jones shows how to make cute little boxes out of paint swatches. If you just got done redecorating and are ready to toss out the paint swatches, consider crafting with them instead. I wouldn’t recommend going out to get fresh paint swatches though, as that would just create more waste. Talk to your home improvement store to see what they do with old paint swatches if they discontinue a product line.
I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for things that are bigger or smaller than their expected sizes. Tiny mug? Sure. Giant pen? I’m all about it. That’s why I was struck by this lovely oversized crepe paper flower. It looks easy enough to make, and Green Wedding Shoes has provided a wonderfully detailed tutorial.
Similar to the posters we created for Creativity Collective, Sweet Verbena reuses dictionary pages to create visually appealing framed artwork. Follow the link for a detailed tutorial on how you can recreate this concept. She totally put a bird on it.
I’m not sure if this teddy bear basket is cute or sadistic, but it involves mutilating a helpless teddy bear. Even so, I kinda like it.
These little glass jar candy pedestals are so festive and fun! They suggest using old pickle jars, but you may want to downplay that fun fact to your guests. Still, it’s a great way to reuse an old glass jar from anything, and it is quite decorative.
There are so many uses for old pallets, and I really love this movable outdoor table made with them.
