Yummy Upcyling

These trashy products are a fun idea for making a permanent keepsake of your favorite food! These were found by Green Upgrader on Etsy, but it seems that store no longer exists.

Seussical Furniture Made of Recycled Cardboard

Can you even believe these pieces of furniture are made out of recycled cardboard? Treehugger describes them as whimsical and I honestly couldn’t think of a more appropriate word.

52 Things

This would have been great for Valentine’s Day, but still this “52 Things Book” is a nice gift to the person you love for any occasion. This tutorial brought to you by Papervine.

Sock Monster Draft Blocker

Old T-Shirt Grocery Bag

Books Table Lamp

HGTV provides a detailed tutorial for making a lamp out of a stack of old books. It definitely would add a lot of charm to a room!

Plastic Bag Heart Wreath

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we found this creative wreath made from old plastic shopping bags. Of course, ideally you would be using a reusable shopping bag at this point! But, if you can get ahold of some shopping bags this would be a perfect craft to make. I could see any color bag working, but I like the red and white color palette they’ve used here. Probably Target or the standard “Thank You” style bags?

Cassette Tape Wallet

Here is an easy tutorial on how to make your very own wallet out of a cassette tape and maybe some fabric from an old shirt you never wear.

Paint Swatch Boxes

Designer Jessica Jones shows how to make cute little boxes out of paint swatches. If you just got done redecorating and are ready to toss out the paint swatches, consider crafting with them instead. I wouldn’t recommend going out to get fresh paint swatches though, as that would just create more waste. Talk to your home improvement store to see what they do with old paint swatches if they discontinue a product line.

Frame Memory Board

If you have an old picture frame with nothing to display, consider turning it into a lovely memory or inspiration board like this from Houzz. Simply decorate it and add a piece of chicken wire to make an elegant display piece!
